Casual strolls among Zen garden elements
"Hidden Garden" is designed with smoked roof tiles and white sand, forming a sand crest. It is a space where you can not only admire the scenery but also stroll around and gather. With Mt. Ogura on the opposite bank providing a borrowed view, we present a landscape that seamlessly blends traditional and modern elements.
Innovation thrives on tradition
Hiroki Hasegawa, who was in charge of environmental design, and Tomoki Kato of "Ueyakato Landscape" combined innovative landscape design and traditional gardening techniques to complete the "Hidden Garden".
People become part of the landscape.
The Karesansui (a traditional Japanese dry garden) is typically viewed from a seated position. However, a new approach is adopted in the "Hidden Garden", allowing you to enter the Karesansui and experience a sense of unity with the scenery.
Natural accent color
A landscape stone with a flat polished top is situated in the garden. The polished surface of the stone resembles a water surface, reflecting the trees. In autumn, the vibrant red hues of the Japanese maple are particularly striking, enhancing the colors of the Karesansui.
The essence of Arashiyama's nature.
The vegetation in the "Hidden Garden" changes day by day. It's not just the changing of the seasons, but also the transformation of plants that grow with the passage of time, such as moss gradually covering the smoked roof tiles, that is worth seeing.
