Edo Beauty Stay

A refined two-day retreat that enhances both inner and outer beauty through traditional arts and spa treatments once cherished by women of the Edo period.

Delicate Beauty Tsumami Craft

Tsutsumi zaiku is a traditional craft that shapes blossoms and foliage by folding small square cloth pieces. Two techniques yield either round, plump petals or slender, pointed forms. Artisans vary fabric hues and folds to create diverse expressions. Handcrafted hairpins and combs can be taken home as elegant accessories.

Enjoy the Shamisen’s Harmony

During the Edo period, training on accompaniment instruments for kabuki and jōruri dramas was immensely popular, particularly the shamisen. Its hand-turns and finger movements were thought to cultivate graceful, feminine poise. Based on the program overseen by Shōin Hagioka, even beginners can learn to play a full piece.

Tea ceremony with elegance

The chanoyu tea ceremony is a ritual where a host serves tea and confections to guests following precise etiquette. With guidance from staff, both host and guest mindfully observe each step, from preparation to serving. More than protocol, chanoyu conveys the Japanese spirit of host-guest equality and harmony.

Orikata: Gift Adornment

Origata is the ancient Japanese art of folding chiyogami paper to wrap gifts, symbolizing sincere intention. You will find tools, papers, and ribbons in your room to practice wrapping banknotes, wine bottles, and more. Step-by-step instruction reveals techniques that turn modern gift-wrapping into elegant tokens.

Enhance your beauty

Inspired by Edo women’s timeless beauty rituals, this exclusive facial and body treatment uses nourishing rice bran oil to refine and illuminate the skin. The journey concludes with a soothing hon-tsuge comb massage and restorative Tsubaki oil, leaving hair vibrant, hydrated, and lustrous.
