Day 1
Welcome to Kinygawa Onsen, Tochigi prefecture.
Kinugawa Onsen is a historical hot spring where only lords and priests who were traveling to Nikko Toshogu Shrine were allowed to enter. The spring water is soft on the body.
At KAI, we offer “KAI Hot Spring Healing,” an authentic hot spring cure experience based on the efficacy and quality of the water at the hot springs.
Take a time to relax with with a drink in your room.Now, change your clothes into our original Samue.
On several occasions, our “Yumori of KAI” -Hot Spring Concierge- at KAI will explain the history of the hot spring as well as its spring qualities and effective ways to bathe.
Wrap your bathing kit in a Furoshiki, a traditional wrapping cloth, and off to the hot springs. Enjoy a relaxing bath while appreciating the seasonal view of the garden.

Ginger tea with black vinegar and brown sugar relieves your fatigue and regulates your body temperature. It gradually prepares your body and mind for a relaxing and peaceful sleep.
A soft, cloud-like mattress provides you the most comfortable sleep while supporting your body at its core. Smooth sheets and pillowcases invite you to heavenly sleep.
Day 2
It is an exercise to stretch and relax your body while soaking up the sunlight through the trees.
At KAI, we offer a “Local Breakfast” using ingredients and cooking methods that reflect the local culture. At KAI Kinugawa, we prepare a local Tochigi Prefecture dish.
Try walking with large strides while consciously “inhaling through the nose and exhaling through the mouth.” A course map is available with routes that you can walk lightly for about an hour.
Try our breathing techniques to enhance the effects of the hot spring or enjoy the local beverages after bathing.
Panels on the display introduce the mechanism of hot springs, the history of hot spring cures, and the descriptions of the spring qualities. It is also a great way to review hot spring etiquette and manners.
With our inn as a base, explore nearby spots such as Nikko Toshogu Shrine and Ryuokyo Gorge.
Our “Mamezara Gallery” displays a variety of miniature plates from all over Japan, mainly from Mashiko ware. Explore and find your favorite one.
Relaxing your body in the evening helps with digestion for dinner.
Enjoy a special kaiseki meal featuring the delicacies of the mountains and rivers prepared using elaborate cooking methods.
At night, the gardens surrounding the open-air hot springs are illuminated with lights, creating a fantastic atmosphere.
Day 3
Our “Original Exercise” features unique movements that incorporate the local histories and tourism resources. It improves your blood flow, especially when coupled with bathing in hot springs.
At KAI Kinugawa, we also offer guest rooms with an open-air bath. Enjoy a quiet, relaxing bath in a private space undisturbed.
Off to the dining area to satisfy your stomach.
Enjoy a five-minute walk to Fureai Bridge and admire the beautiful stream of the Kinugawa River.
We offer delicious coffee along with books and stories about the history, culture, nature, and crafts of the area.
Our shop has a wide selection of local treats and folk crafts for you to take home.
The check-out is until noon. When you leave the inn, you are refreshed and fully charged.
