Seasonal Moments

In Bali, special days cycle with the turning of the calendar. There are days when the entire island descends into deep silence, and days that come alive in vibrant celebration to welcome ancestral spirits. At HOSHINOYA Bali, we embrace these seasonal moments from within the heart of the village. It is an experience not merely observed from the outside as a tourist, but gently shared alongside the local rhythm of life. If your stay coincides with one of these special days, you will encounter a passing of time that can only be felt here.

Galungan & Kuningan

Galungan is a Balinese festival celebrating the triumph of dharma (good) over adharma (evil). During this time, when ancestral spirits are believed to return to the earth, beautifully decorated bamboo poles called "Penjor" line the streets and houses, and people visit temples to offer their prayers. The 10-day festival draws to a close with Kuningan, when the spirits return to the heavens once more. At HOSHINOYA Bali, we offer authentic experiences that allow you to touch the true beauty of this celebration.(In 2027, January 13 to 23, and August 11 to 21.)

Nyepi

Nyepi is the "Day of Silence" that heralds the New Year in the Balinese calendar. On this day, everything on the island comes to a complete standstill for 24 hours. Lights are dimmed, movement is restricted, and people quietly turn their focus inward. Even the airport ceases its operations. HOSHINOYA Bali is a village embraced by a deep valley. We invite you to experience this rare day by embracing the very essence of tranquility. *In 2027, it will fall on March 8.
